Triple Threat at the Triple Door!
There’s a new variety show in town and it’s happening this Friday at the Triple Door.
The lineup is impeccable, featuring writer Dan Savage, the fabulous Mama Tits and Monarch favorite Prom Queen, among others. Says the organizer behind the whole thing, Kimball Allen, “I love the concept of bringing a high-energy, high-class show to a premier venue such as The Triple Door. This town (greater Seattle) is bursting with talent, but I feel that we are failing when it comes to providing professional forums/opportunities for all (emerging and established talent) to be showcased.â€
Indeed, the city booms with talent, which is why a variety show could be so much fun!
“The Triple Door is super classy and feels like a Vegas stage,†says Celene Ramadan, aka Prom Queen. “The sound system is great and the star curtain is so pretty. The whole experience feels very old school. But also, the clientele that go there are usually a bit older than we normally get to play for and they always respond so well to our sound.â€
But what was the inspiration for this show?
“My childhood – 100%,†says Allen. “I grew up in a large family with seven siblings in Idaho. I grew up in a conservative Mormon family. Sundays were the Sabbath and we weren’t allowed to play with friends, watch TV, listen to radio, play outside. In order to entertain myself l would recruit my younger siblings to be performers and guests in my own talk and variety shows each week. My parents and older sibling graciously became my live audience.â€
We don’t know what to expect other than a good time. And we suggest you check out the evening’s show, the first of “many more,†says Allen. “The plan is to have 4-5 shows a year,†he says. Fucking fantastic! Get your tickets here.
