Three Songs To The Head vol. 9

Hello and welcome to our latest in the running series, Three Songs To The Head. Here we offer three songs we can’t stop thinking about, three songs we love, three songs we want to share with you. In this installment we feature Decoded, The Trouble Starts and Cahalen Morrison & Eli West.

Decoded’s “Red Handed” is a track full of heavy guitars, rock fumes and well-placed aggression. The band is new to us and they reached out to share their music recently via our submission page. The song moves in waves and excels at knowing when to rise and fall with its big guitars and vocals. Despite the amount of pulsing force, the song is catchy and totally worth replaying.

Bird in the Water“, the new single from The Trouble Starts is a thoughtful composition with vocals that remind us of R.E.M. The Trouble Starts have been doing well in the Seattle scene for sometime, garnering respect from local players and world-renowned radio station, KEXP. Check out their plethora of music on their Bandcamp page here.

Switching gears from the Seattle rock, Cahalen Morrison & Eli West play folk music with those playful, bouncy harmonies, all while strumming a guitar and mandolin. Someone get me my palm aid O, Brother-style! In this video, the duo sing their tune, “Livin’ in America”, a pretty, jaunty song that will lighten your heart, if for but a moment. Check out their video for the song here:
