It’s always exciting to see who Spek will remix next, by the time things are all said and done he’ll have quite the, er, rap sheet of all-star collaborators. Today’s installment is the freaky-fingered fret board prince of Seattle guitar solos, Ayron Jones. It’s the type of song to get listeners pumped, perfect for a big moment, exactly what Spek and Ayron are meant for.

What do you get when you combine one of Seattle’s most soulful voices with one of the city’s most intuitive guitar players and one of its strongest rhythm sections? The answer: Stereo Embers. This song from the band’s recent EP release, Code of the Sound, feature’s Robb Benson’s deep vocals and Tim Dijulio’s expert guitar lead threading. These boys are treasures.

Jamil has one of the smoothest voices in Seattle hiphop. He’s also an after school teacher in South Seattle who works with refugee and immigrant youth, knowing the intricate details of the teacher strike and the perils of things like standardized tests and everything else that comes with public schools, which are, at the same time, as necessary as anything. His voice is one I find myself often in need of hearing.
