Three Songs To The Head vol. 10
Hello and welcome to our latest in the running series, Three Songs To The Head. Here we offer three songs we can’t stop thinking about, three songs we love, three songs we want to share with you. In this installment we feature Inly, Three Ninjas and Little Chief.Â

I cannot stop listening to Inly. Their EP is as authentic a piece of American music as I can think of. In the local tradition of Corespondents, Rick Sabo, Caleb Thompson, Shana Cleveland and others, Inly, led by singer Mindie Lind, plays a music that is timeless, in that it could exist in any time and still be as effective. Their 5-song EP is tremendous but in this post I wanted to feature their song “Sunbeam” which you can find here, a 2-minute tune not on their EP. Seriously, listen.
Three Ninjas play with Monarch faves The Jesus Rehab and Julia Massey often. I’ve heard their name around town but have never, for some reason, had a chance to check out their music. That is, until today. In fact, they were they inspiration for this post. Three Ninjas’ song “Losin’ You” is a jaunty blues tune rich with humor and sadness and swollen from jug whiskey. Sing along, sway your weary head, and enjoy the acoustic guitar pickin’ band!
Little Chief’s “Mountain Song”, which you can stream here, is a slow but joyous build. Beginning with acoustic guitars and rising to feature big drums, culminating in rich Cascadian harmonies, you can’t help but imagine you’re surrounded by pines, the smoke from your pipe rising to meet the clouds, the cherished, snow-capped mountain still in the distance. It’s a tune you can dance around listening to in your bedroom, a tune you can blare as you navigate the Pacific Northwest highways or a tune you can start up by a bonfire. Banjos and all!
The answer isn't poetry, but rather language
