Monarch in Glorious Physicality

We are delighted to announce the arrival of our debut print edition! Soon it will be available in bookstores all across Seattle, but for now you can order through our home page.

If you want the full physical effect (free from digital mediation of any sort), please join us for our release party, November 20th, 8:00-11:00pm at The Pub at 3rd Place Books, 6504 20th Ave. NE (on the corner of 65th and 20th). We’ll have plenty of copies waiting (sans shipping charges).

Jim Brantingham, Rebecca Hoogs, Rebecca Bridge, Jed Myers, Zac Hill, Jason Whitmarsh and Julie Larios will read their inspiring work and say wonderfully witty things. There will also be musical performances by Brad Dunn, Evan Flory-Barnes and Shana Cleveland, before and after the readings.  Not to mention food specials and 18 beers on tap.

In addition to those attending the release party, I want to mention that Chris Engman, Amy Gerstler,  Ed Ochester, Valery Petrovskiy, Caleb Powell, Jesse Sugarmann, Abigail Warren, and Desmond Kon Zicheng-Mingde are featured in the print edition.

This is a very special event that has been a long time in the making. We want to thank all of our talented contributors, everyone who has volunteered their time and skills to make this thing work, and for our readers. Thanks! Hope to see you all on Nov. 20th.

    Got mine a few days ago – well done! I am enjoying each piece (pacing myself) as a separate look into the collective. Awesome to see you come together with such a simple idea and execute so well (just the website alone is impressive – now print). It’s so rare for me to pick up printed matter any more that isn’t recycled or passed along, but this one will be staying local and shared with visitors. One question – what was the print run on your first issue? Good luck going forward…

    Great to hear, Ivan. We had a print run of 300 copies, which are going fast. We also had a fantastic release party, and the response to the issue is encouraging. Some exciting content in the works as well!

What am I?

Bioluminescent eye
That sees by the shine
Of its own light. Lies

Blind me. I am the seventh human sense
And my stepchild,
Consequence;

Scientists can't find me.

Januswise I make us men;
Glamour
Was my image then—

Remind me:

The awful fall up off all fours
From the forest
To the hours…

Tick, Tock: Divine me.
