Jake Uitti On Hangin Tuff Episode #2 With Half-Breed

Welcome to the new mini-series where we ask five Seattle folk their thoughts on the new music interview and variety show, Hangin Tuff, presented by Bobbi Rich. This week, Jake Uitti, Managing Editor of the Monarch Review, offers his thoughts on episode #5.

Jake Uitti: Episode #2 was the first Hangin Tuff I ever saw. Immediately, I was in love with the style of the show. Big fur (probably fake?) coats, big sunglasses, hot tubs, making use of the brilliant water all around us here in Seattle, attitude from the hosts combined with a bit of tongue-in-cheek fun, an openness to bringing some of the city’s most interesting performers to an intimate space and kick it. It reminded me of Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, somehow, with all the kitsch, the bright colors. But it was also something new. Something that could really showcase the city in a fun, playful way. The 10-minute webisodes are perfect and I can’t wait to see more of what Bobbi comes up with. In episode #2, particularly, the show shines. Bobbi mic-checking, calling out to sailors, and then Half-Breed, the rocking duo, just plays on a moving boat. What could be better?
