Luwak Coffee

I walked into Lucid Lounge around 8pm on a Wednesday to try a new coffee just imported to Seattle. In fact, Lucid is the only place that sells this coffee in town. It is $12.99 for a cup and $75 per 3.5 OZ bag. Why? Because it’s very rare. How rare? Well, that’s the shitty part. Literally.
The Monarch Drinks With Heather McHugh

“Are you a sex therapist or something?” a waitress asks Heather McHugh as she drops off a drink at our little corner of the bar at Taverna Mazi.Â
Nook! Biscuits!

It’s a smidgen of a place and never quiet. Chilly mornings leave the inside of the windows fogged impenetrably, framing the owl-embedded sign in a shroud of biscuit steam. The inside is fetching, too – with makeshift plaid-upholstered booths and mason-jar pendant lamps, it’s cute but just scruffy enough to spare it from pretention. If that doesn’t beckon a hungry Ave-dweller inside, I don’t know what could.Â
Strength In The Blues – An Interview With Cornel West

It is the morning after the country’s historic Presidential election, 11:20 AM, November 5th, 2008. I have an appointment on the Princeton University campus and I am lost. I didn’t anticipate it being this humid and I am beginning to sweat under my grey wool sweater. About forty yards ahead, I see a man in a blue pinstriped suit walking on the sidewalk.

Bleu Bistro

Forget the tacky, bottom-of-a-condo-complex façade, it’s only a trick. Inside, Bleu Bistro is a sort of Arabia-meets-Alice-in-Wonderland (meets quirky capital hill) – and a most decidedly worthwhile eatery.

La Bête

You will find yourself anon in the kitchen, almost literally: walking in, a dark wood bar is the only divide between the patron and the vigorous galley; I wondered if I hadn’t gone in the back door by mistake. A table found it’s way to me directly, sans reservation, by a host in plainclothes.
The answer isn't poetry, but rather language
