Three Songs To The Head vol. 43
Hello and welcome back to Three Songs to the Head where we share three songs that moved us, three songs we love, three songs we can’t get out of our heads! Today, we’re featuring Annie Ford, Scarlet Parke and Deep Sea Diver.
Annie Ford has a couple new songs she’s going to release Nov. 5th at the Sunset. They are called “Crocodile Skin” and “White Needles.” Annie Ford is one of our favorite songwriters – she’s a dynamo on the violin (she can sway a room liek a drunken pirate ship). While I would love to post her haunting new songs here, I can’t because they’re not out yet, which means get thee ass to the Sunset Tavern. In the mean time, here is a video for another song from 2013.
Scarlet Parke is a playful Sunday morning coming through the speakers as you pour your orange juice, brew your coffee and flip those flapjacks. She’s got some Adele in her voice mixed with the right amount of bounce and flirt. Her song “Sweet Honey,” on her lovely upcoming EP, Long Night, inspires a smile and a shoulder shimmy. And her song “Fallin'” from the same EP reminds of the vocal facility of Amy Winehouse. Get to know her!
Deep Sea Diver’s new single, “Wide Awake,” is a surreal jog through the virtuoso mind of frontwoman Jessica Dobson. She’s a master of amps, sounds and stringing phrases; one of those people who you watch and think, “How is she getting all that out of just one instrument.” It takes two minutes for the vocals to come and their playful jaunt is well worth the wait. Indulge.
The answer isn't poetry, but rather language
