Prom Queen On Hangin Tuff Episode #4 With La Luz

Welcome to the start of a new mini-series where we ask five Seattle folk their thoughts on the new music interview and variety show, Hangin Tuff, presented by Bobbi Rich. This week, Prom Queen, aka Celene Ramadan, aka Leeni talks about episode #4 featuring La Luz. Enjoy!

Prom Queen: At times, I really do miss the days where MTV and the occasional Rolling Stone article provided the only window into the lives of the artists we were obsessing over as 14 year olds. The internet is great, especially for bringing forth the uprising of indie artists and leveling the playing field — but it’s hard not to get nostalgic for the times when I would stop everything to hear Tabitha Soren or Kurt Loder tell me just the tiniest thing about Pearl Jam’s upcoming tour in their MTV News Breaks. To me, Hangin Tuff with Bobbi Rich has that same spirit. Bobbi brings forth really fun performances and interviews from a diverse pool of local indie bands here in Seattle. Each episode shows not only a different flavor of music and style but also a different side of our beautiful city. There is much to celebrate about Seattle and the thriving music scene we have here and I love a project like Hangin Tuff for bringing that to the fore. I had a blast working on the episode with La Luz – and the finished product is really something! I love that band and I feel like I am totally dorking out when I watch that video: especially the amazing a capella version of “Easy Baby” they perform on the boat. It’s beautiful, intimate and simple. These types of moments are what makes this show so special and it has to come from the imagination of a true lover of music, and Bobbi Rich is certainly that!
