Cannabis Connoisseur

This is Cannabis Connoisseur Michael Zabrek with the latest update in all things marijuana! First, though, a bit about me: I moved to Seattle in 2011 after earning a BA from the University of South Florida. I came here to integrate myself in the vibrant music scene and progressive attitude of Seattle. I work at a cannabis analysis lab by day and play music at night. I play keyboards with Mr. Slapface, Black Zabrek, The Bayous, and Miles the Cat. I also smoke pot.

The other day a friend of mine who makes hash oil wanted me to taste some of his latest creations. I told him, “Come on over and try this new technique I use to smoke by heating up a piece of glass, dropping it into the bong bowl, and touching the hash oil to the glass.” Simple, right?

He came over with another friend and just as we were getting started, the glass I heated up kept breaking into little pieces. Then an idea struck me! I ran inside and appeared on the porch of my apartment building with some quartz rocks I found on the beach a few days prior and a hammer. My friends laughed as I broke up the rocks into little chunks (they thought I was crazy, probably!). I held a piece of quartz rock with some pliers and held the rock up to a blowtorch I bought at the hardware store. After the rock was glowing red I placed it into the bowl piece of the bong and placed the piece of hash oil onto the glowing rock while inhaling on the bong.

The results were spectacular! Smooth but strong. A huge, friendly toke. My friend said in amazement that he was getting rid of his hundred dollar setup and heading to the gem store tomorrow.

ROCK ON!

Bonus Smoke Tip: Look for the strain ‘Durban Poison’ that smells like parsnips. I find this to be a delicious daytime smoke!
